reports West Africa

Bram took his camera out onto the streets of the towns we visited and the roads we took. Take a look at some of the results and follow our journey from Dakar, to the Foutta Toro region, into Mali, Burkina Faso and Ghana.

Dakar I

Our first impressions of the people and the live stock on the streets of Dakar and our friends in the residential area with whom we shared tea.

Dakar II
Some of the details that fascinated us during our first weeks in Senegal, people we met and a university research centre in tatters.

St Louis
In the coastal town of Saint Louis we admire the traditional boats fisherman use out on the sea and in Richard Toll we get aquainted with everyday life.

Foutta Toro I

We hit the road in the arid Foutta Toro region along the border with Mauritania.

Foutta Toro II

Get to know the people and customs of the Sahel as we follow the Senegal river towards Mali.

Kayes

We conquer our first dirt track on our approach to Kayes where we enjoy the hospitality of a regional radio station for and by the rural communtiy.

Bamako to Segou

After our stay in Bamako, the capital of Mali, we head for Segou. Check out all the transport vehicles we came across on the way.

Djenne and Mopti

The famous banko mosque of Djenne is the largest of its kind. Meet the people who live around it as well as the fishermen of Mopti.

Dogon

We reached the village of Kani Kombole on the edge of the Dogon plateau via roads under construction.

Dogon to Burkina Faso

Between the Dogon region and Burkina Faso the roads are pretty tough but offer plenty of amazing encounters.

Burkina Faso and Ghana
In the company of many two wheelers from Ouagadougou to the border with Ghana and via Bolgatanga to Accra.
